Drawing on his international experience, he founded GreenRock Energy in Taiwan and successfully attracted capital from foreign shareholders.
Over its seven-year history, Green Rock Energy has expanded its footprint from traditional solar power and energy storage to broader "energy generation" initiatives, while exploring emerging energy domains such as alternative fuels and biomass. Eden Yeh noted that amidst rising energy scarcity and soaring electricity costs, generating power must be paired with aggressive "energy conservation." Recognizing that efficient energy savings require AI, Yeh engaged a professional team to build proprietary software and recruited top talent to help clients convert their factories into smart, energy-efficient operations.
Yeh explained that because every factory presents unique power consumption data, the company deploys tailored energy-saving platforms for different machinery, assisting clients with installation and continuous monitoring to optimize power usage. Backed by an extensive team of electrical engineering specialists capable of building extra-high-voltage systems, the company combines these capabilities with energy-saving techniques to build resilient microgrids—a key competitive advantage for GreenRock Energy.
Yeh pointed out that while Taiwan's energy sector boomed during the company’s early years, it is now approaching saturation. Consequently, the firm has actively expanded its global footprint into Japan, the U.S., and Southeast Asia. Japan boasts a high proportion of green energy, but generation is unevenly distributed geographically and varies significantly between day and night, creating a strong need for energy storage regulation. Furthermore, with the rapid rise of AI computing power, energy infrastructure has become paramount; GreenRock Energy has made significant progress in Japan's energy storage market this year.
For its long-term strategy, the company is targeting the U.S. market, following the influx of Taiwanese manufacturers expanding overseas. Building on its prior experience designing smart shopping malls in California, GreenRock Energy is now assisting clients with green energy planning as Taiwanese companies establish new plants in Arizona and Texas, supported by a dedicated local U.S. team. Meanwhile, Southeast Asia presents strong fundamental demand, where combined solar and energy storage systems are already cheaper than traditional grid power. Green Rock Energy provides local factories in Thailand and Vietnam with green power at rates lower than grid electricity, alongside energy management services for smart factories.
Regarding international operations, Yeh emphasized that every country has distinct regulations, which presents the main challenge. The energy sector must dynamically adapt to evolving "power demand," with efficiency standards and certifications changing rapidly as technology matures.
Entering a new market requires deep analysis of local energy policies and regulations, as well as direct coordination with local utility companies. In Japan, for instance, the industry recently had to adapt to revised technical requirements for Power Conversion Systems (PCS). When navigating new markets, speed of response to regulatory shifts is critical. In the U.S., tax credits and incentives can change suddenly, drastically altering ROI; companies must react swiftly to stay ahead. As long as a firm pays close attention to fluctuating electricity prices and changing grid rules, it can effectively navigate local regulations and satisfy client needs.
Having successfully listed on the Emerging Stock Market last year, Green Rock Energy achieved its initial strategic goal.
